Project & Heavy Cargo

Planning and movement of oversized, overweight and out-of-gauge equipment.

Planning and movement of oversized, overweight and out-of-gauge equipment.

How we handle it

Project cargo is freight that does not fit the standard pattern: too tall, too wide, too heavy, or simply too valuable to leave to chance. Moving it takes planning, specialist equipment and a clear sequence of steps.

We begin with the cargo details: dimensions, weight, centre of gravity and lifting points, plus the pick-up and delivery sites. From there we plan the routing, choose the right vessel or equipment, and identify what permits, escorts or road closures may be needed. Where a site survey is called for, we arrange it before the cargo moves.

On the day, loading and securing matter as much as the transport itself. We coordinate with stevedores, crane operators and hauliers so that lifting and lashing follow the plan, and we keep a single coordinator responsible for the whole movement.

Because each project is different, there is no standard price list. Send us the specification and the timeline, and we will come back with a plan, the assumptions we have made and the points that need your decision.

What is included

  • Break-bulk, flat-rack and open-top shipments
  • Route surveys and transport planning
  • Lifting, lashing and securing coordination
  • Permits and escorts for abnormal loads
  • Single coordinator from site to site

Ideal for

Plant and machinery, generators, industrial components and equipment for construction or energy projects.

What we need from you

To quote Project Cargo accurately, we need the pick-up and delivery locations, a description of the goods, their weight and dimensions, the number of packages and your preferred dates. If you are unsure about any detail, send what you have and we will help fill in the rest.

How pricing works

Our quotes list freight charges, local handling and any surcharges separately, so you can see what you are paying for. Prices depend on the route, carrier rates at the time of booking and the nature of the cargo. Duties and taxes at the destination are normally charged separately.
